In Plantu's take on the Dominique Strauss-Kahn trial, the Martin Luther King-invoking hotel maid is clearly standing nobly up for black pride and for civil rights. As Radegunda points out, the only time that the Stars and Stripes are used as a symbol of justice by a Frenchman like Plantu is when the American flag is allegedly depicting social justice.
